Itinerary

Welcome to our EF 2016 Blog! I have posted our Itinerary so you can see where we are and what we're doing each day. I will post daily blogs with pictures and updates when possible. 9 days until departure!

Day 1: Fly overnight to Italy (June 2nd)
Day 2: Rome (June 3rd)
  • Meet your Tour Director at the airport
Day 3: Rome (June 4th)
  • Take a guided tour of Vatican City
  • Visit the Sistine Chapel
  • Visit St. Peter's Basilica
  • Visit the Roman Catacombs
    • Opt to explore the mysterious world buried beneath Rome since the 2nd century. Christian burial grounds and priceless relics abound, and the art that lines the walls is world-class. Afterward, journey down the ancient Appian Way to the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. Note: Sturdy walking shoes are recommended. This optional is not recommended for those who are claustrophobic.
Day 4: Rome (June 5th)
  •  Take a guided tour of Rome
  • Visit the Colosseum
  • Visit the Roman Forum
  • Take a self-guided walking tour of Rome:
    • Trevi Fountain
    • Pantheon
    • Piazza Navona
    • Spanish Steps
Day 5: Capri/Sorrento Region (June 6th)
  • Travel by ferry to Capri
  • Take a guided tour of Capri
  • Enjoy a boat cruise
  • Travel to Sorrento
Day 6: Pompeii/Brindisi/Night Ferry (June 7th)
  • Travel to Pompeii
  • take a guided tour of Pompeii
  • Visit the Pompeii Roman Ruins
  • Continue on to Brindisi
  • Board a night ferry to Patras 
Day 7: Patras/Delphi (June 8th)
  • Arrive in Patras
  • Travel to Delphi
Day 8: Delphi/Athens (June 9th)
  • Take a guided tour of Delphi
  • With your expert local guide you will see:
    • Temple of Apollo
  • Visit the Delphi Museum
  • Travel to Athens
  • Enjoy a free evening
Day 9: Athens (June 10th)
  • Take a guided tour of Athens
  • With your expert local guide you will see:
    • Olympic Stadium
  • Visit the Acropolis:
    • Parthenon
    • Temple of Athena Nike
  • Visit the Acropolis Museum
  • Take a walking tour of Athens
  • With your tour director you will see:
    • Plaka District
    • Temple of Olympian Zeus
Day 10: Greek Island Cruise - Mykonos (June 11th)
  • Visit the island of Mykonos
Day 11: Greek Island Cruise - Samos (June 12th)
  • Visit the island of Samos
    • In Samos, visit the Wine Museum and see the archaeological site of Heraion, a large sanctuary to the goddess Hera. After a trip to Samos' bustling town square, enjoy the white sand beaches of Pythagorio village, namesake of the ancient Greek philosopher and scientist, Pythagoras. 
  • Visit the island of Patmos 
Day 12: Greek Island Cruise - Crete/Santorini (June 13th)
  • Visit the island of Crete
    • While in Crete, visit Knossos Palace, one of the Bronze Age’s most impressive archaeological sites in the world. Also known as the Labyrinth, the palace appears as a maze of workrooms, living spaces, and store rooms close to a central square. Sir Arthur Evan’s archaeological excavations and restorations from 1900 suggest that this was the site of the ancient Minoan Kingdom.
  • visit the island of Santorini
    • In Santorini, take a scenic excursion to the village of Oia and explore its unique architecture, quaint shops and charming port of Ammoudi. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views. 
Day 13: Depart for home (June 14th)
