Day 7

We have arrived!! We made it to Greece safe and sound. Our ferry arrive this afternoon around 1 p.m. We disembarked, loaded the bus up with our luggage, and were on the road again. The port we came into was in Patras which is located on the peninsula. The only way to get onto the mainland is by crossing a bridge. In fact, the bridge we crossed was the longest suspension bridge in the world! So of course we had to stop and take pictures. From there, the restaurant we were going to for lunch was just a quick drive and before we knew it, we were eating authentic Greek cuisine.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the food. They were eating moussaka, cheese pies, shish kabobs, calamari, shrimp and probably more things that I can't remember the names of. There was definitely a consensus that the food in Greece was delicious and we couldn't wait to try more. Since today was mainly a travel day (we needed to end the night and Delphi) ore tour director chose the tavern because it was near the beach. We were given two free hours of free time, so everyone headed over to the shore, laid down their towels, and enjoy the water and sun. There was a rock pathway that jutted out into the water and the kids were even brave enough to jump off of it into the Ionian Sea. It was definitely cold at first, but after awhile you got used to it.

The free time came and went, and before we knew it, it was time to leave. We loaded the bus again and made the two-hour drive to Delphi. By the time we got there, it was nearly dinnertime. We dropped off our bags in the hotel rooms, and came back downstairs for more Greek food. Dinner did not disappoint. We started off with spinach pie, then had a main course of yummy rice and meatballs, and finished everything off with some sort of lemon-honey cake for dessert. It was very filling and very delicious.

Once dinner was finished we were given some free time in the city. Delphi is a very small town, two main streets and only a short walk in both directions. We explored for a little bit before calling it quits. Tomorrow will be more of Delphi and a drive to Athens! Enjoy the pictures!
